Rank Math or Yoast SEO: Which One Will Help You Win the SEO Game?

Rank Math or Yoast SEO: Which One will suit you better?

Launched in 2010, Yoast SEO has been the face of WordPress plugins. 288 million downloads are proof of its popularity since then. Though Yoast SEO remains an industry giant, it still makes sense to go beyond using just a single WordPress plugin. If you’re on the lookout to try another option for your business website, it’s worth knowing about Rank Math – the newcomer in the world of search engine optimisation.

Rank Math is rapidly growing in popularity and is the second-best WordPress plugin. That’s why it’s no surprise to get confused when it’s about choosing between Yoast SEO and Rank Math. Though both offer exceptional features to enhance SEO results, it’s wise to choose one according to your SEO strategy, budget, and knowledge level. To help you make a sound decision, we’ll compare both plugins in this post.

Wondering if you should go for Yoast SEO or Rank Math?

Let’s explore in detail.

Features

Rank Math provides additional features (available in free versions) to its users (as compared to Yoast SEO). However, it doesn’t make Rank Math a better choice than Yoast SEO because the main concern is whether you require those additional features. If you do want to optimise your website with the extras, Rank Math can be a preference. But if you want to keep it simple yet optimised, Yoast SEO can be a go-to option.

Basic Features of Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO offers much of the same features that Rank Math offers in its free versions. But what’s more, includes cornerstone content and setting schema type. All these basic features are available for free.

Premium Features of Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO charges for its premium features including the following:

  • Multiple focus keywords
  • Redirect manager
  • Suggestions for internal links
  • Adding a block for internal links
  • Search for related keyphrases
  • Local SEO
  • Video SEO
  • News SEO
  • Advanced features of WooCommerce SEO

Set up process

Both Yoast SEO and Rank Math provide a user-friendly way to get you through the onboarding process. Therefore, it’s a matter of personal preference when it comes to choosing any one SEO WordPress plugin among these two.

Launching Rank Math will show you the setup wizard. That way, you’ll be able to explore the basic features. You can also unlock more features by having a customized experience:

The setup wizard will help you configure the following:

  • Schema information
  • Integrations for Google Search Console and Google Analytics
  • XML sitemap
  • Other settings

After setting up your plugin, Rank Math also provides an opportunity to avail advanced options:

  • Redirection
  • Monitoring 404 error
  • Role manager
  • Detailed schema settings

Once you’re done with the setting up stage, Rank Math will launch a module manager. You’ll need to switch to “Advanced Mode’ from the “Easy Mode’ to view all modules.

Yoast SEO

In Yoast SEO, you’re required to launch the setup wizard from its WordPress toolbar. This wizard is a great tool for helping you go through the following settings:

  • SEO title templates
  • Scheme data (basic)
  • Indexing your site

The dashboard also comprises useful features. Just like Rank Math, Yoast SEO also provides modules but you’ll need to enable them for viewing.

User interface of RankMath vs Yoast SEO

Rank Math

Rank Math can integrate into a block editor. As you open the settings, you can choose from these tabs:

  • General
  • Advanced
  • Schema
  • Social

The “Analytics’ interface of Rank Math is also worth discussing. By using it, you can track:

  • Paid keyword rankings
  • Search console reports
  • Traffic details (paid)

Yoast SEO

By using Yoast SEO, you can set up your site’s SEO information in two ways:

  1. You get access to the meta box that’s below the editor. This one appears in both the classic editor and the block editor.
  2. You’ll see a new option of Yoast SEO in the sidebar of the editor if you want to use the block editor.

You can choose any of the two approaches. You get the advantage of having a meta box here as Rank Math doesn’t provide that.

Keyword Analysis

Both WordPress plugins provide keyword analysis. However, using Rank Math will enable you to analyze multiple keywords in a single piece of content. This option is available for free. Yoast SEO analyzes just one keyword in its free version which means that you must get a paid version if you have multiple keywords to target. For instance, a page is focused on ” SEO in Brisbane“, free version of Yoast SEO will allow you to check the focus keyword is there in meta description, Title, headings, first paragraph. Again, it’s a matter of personal preference.

Pricing

Both plugins are accessible for free. But you can get their premium versions to avail yourself more features. However, the premium version by Rank Math seems to be more affordable.

So, is there a winner?

Interestingly, both WordPress plugins are the winners. The reason: both provide high quality and both have great reviews. However, it’s all about picking the plugin that helps you achieve specific SEO objectives. If you prefer numerous features in a single plugin, the free versions of Rank Math should be the right choice. However, if you want to go basic by just controlling your SEO descriptions/titles and you don’t need to even pay for the basic features, then Yoast SEO can be a real friend.

So, what do you think about this comparison? How was your experience while trying any or both of these WordPress plugins? We’d love to know your thoughts on this!
